30-Minute Sausage and Cabbage Stir Fry

A quick, easy, and flavorful sausage and cabbage stir fry perfect for busy weeknights. This dish is packed with savory sausage, tender-crisp vegetables, and a delicious soy-based sauce, ready in just 30 minutes.

  • 200 g smoked sausage (Kielbasa or a similar smoked sausage works wonderfully)
  • 1 medium onion (approx. 150g)
  • 1 medium cabbage (approx. 400g)
  • 1 medium carrot (approx. 100g)
  • 1 medium bell pepper (Any color, approx. 150g)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp honey
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 pinch chili flakes (Adjust to spice preference)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Prep all ingredients: finely chop onion, shred cabbage, julienne carrot, dice bell pepper, and mince garlic.
  2. Slice smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large wok or frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Add sliced sausage and brown on all sides. Remove sausage from pan and set aside.
  5. Add chopped onion and minced garlic to the pan with sausage drippings. Stir-fry for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  6. Add shredded cabbage, julienned carrots, and diced bell peppers. Stir-fry for 5-7 minutes until tender-crisp.
  7. Return the browned sausage to the pan with the vegetables.
  8. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, honey, and chili flakes.
  9. Pour the sauce mixture over the ingredients in the pan and stir to coat everything.
  10. Drizzle sesame oil over the stir fry and toss to combine.
  11. Cook for another 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly, until the sauce thickens slightly and everything is heated through.
  12. Serve hot.

This recipe is a fantastic base, feel free to make it your own by swapping sausages, adding different vegetables, adjusting spice levels, or serving with grains. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
