Ingredients

Scale

Main ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz.) chickpeas (rinsed and drained, and then patted very dry)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 0.25 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 0.25 teaspoon onion powder
  • 0.125 teaspoon coarse ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. This is the most important step for achieving that satisfying crunch! Take your rinsed and drained chickpeas and spread them out on a clean kitchen towel or a few layers of paper towels. Gently pat them all over. You want them as dry as possible. I usually give them a good five minutes of drying time.
  2. Grab a medium bowl and toss those nice, dry chickpeas in. Drizzle in the olive oil, then sprinkle in your salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, and black pepper. Give everything a good toss until those little legumes are evenly coated in all that deliciousness.
  3. Now, spread your seasoned chickpeas out in a single layer in your air fryer basket. Don’t overcrowd them! If your air fryer is smaller, you might need to do this in two batches. This ensures they all get nice and crispy.
  4. Set your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) and let them cook for about 15 to 20 minutes. About halfway through, give the basket a good shake to ensure even cooking. You’re looking for them to be golden brown and wonderfully crispy. Listen for that satisfying little crunch when you tap one!

Notes

These chickpeas are best enjoyed fresh. If storing leftovers, let them cool completely and store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2-3 days. They can be re-crisped in the air fryer at 300°F (150°C).
