Caramel Apple Crumble Bars

Effortless and delicious caramel apple crumble bars made with a shortcut cake mix base and topping, a sweet apple pie filling, and a luscious caramel drizzle.

Crumble Base & Topping

  • 1 package (15.25 ounce) yellow cake mix (standard size)
  • 2.5 cups quick-cooking oats
  • 0.75 cup butter (melted)

Filling & Caramel

  • 1 can (20 ounce) apple pie filling
  • 30 Kraft caramel squares
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the yellow cake mix and quick-cooking oats.
  3. Pour in the melted butter and mix until a crumbly mixture forms.
  4. Press about half of the crumb mixture firmly into the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  5. Spread the apple pie filling evenly over the crumb base.
  6. In a small microwave-safe bowl, combine the caramel squares and milk. Microwave on high for 1 to 2 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds, until smooth and melted.
  7. Drizzle the melted caramel evenly over the apple pie filling.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining crumb mixture evenly over the caramel layer.
  9. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
  10. Let the bars cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

These bars can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. They are delicious served cold or gently warmed.
