Adorable and simple-to-make Christmas tree-shaped pies with a festive cranberry filling and a sweet almond bark coating, perfect for holiday baking and gifting.

Ingredients

Scale

Main ingredients

  • 3 boxes ready-made pie crusts (2 per box)
  • 1 14 ounce can cranberry sauce
  • 0.25 cup brown sugar
  • 2 zest of oranges
  • 2 large eggs (one for filling, one for egg wash)
  • 24 ounces vanilla almond bark
  • 0.33 cup Christmas sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Prep your oven: First things first, get your oven preheated. Just peek at your pie crust package for the exact temperature – they’ll tell you just what your crusts need.
  2. Whip up the filling: Grab a medium bowl. Dump in your cranberry sauce, brown sugar, and that wonderful orange zest. Give it a good stir until everything is nicely combined. It’s going to smell amazing already!
  3. Egg wash ready: In a separate, small bowl, whisk up your eggs. This is just for brushing later, so no need to mix it into anything.
  4. Shape your trees: Unroll those ready-made pie crusts. Now for the creative part! You can use a Christmas tree-shaped cookie cutter, or if you’re feeling artistic, freehand cut out your trees. Have fun with it!
  5. Get them ready for baking: Carefully place your cute tree shapes onto a baking sheet. Then, using a pastry brush (or even a clean finger!), gently brush the tops of the trees with the beaten egg. This is what gives them that beautiful golden glow.
  6. Bake ’em up: Pop those baking sheets into your preheated oven and bake according to your pie crust package directions. You’re looking for a lovely golden brown color. Once they’re baked, take them out and let them cool completely. This is super important, especially before you add the chocolatey coating!
  7. Melt the bark: While your trees are cooling, it’s time to melt the vanilla almond bark. Follow the package directions carefully – usually, it’s just a few seconds in the microwave, stirring in between. You want it smooth and pourable.
  8. Coat your trees: Now for the most fun part! Dip each cooled pie crust tree into the melted almond bark. You can dip the whole thing, or just a part of it, or even just drizzle it on with a spoon. Whatever looks prettiest to you!
  9. Sprinkle away! Immediately after dipping or drizzling, while the bark is still wet, shower those trees with your Christmas sprinkles. This is where they really start to look like little edible Christmas trees!
  10. Let them set: Place your decorated trees on parchment paper or wax paper and let the almond bark harden completely. This might take a little while, so be patient! Once set, they are ready to be devoured or gifted.
